In history, the Dutch will be remembered for their passion for tulips. After 400-plus years, theirs is an enduring love affair. First introduced to Holland in 1593, the tulip has become a symbol for the country.
But the origin of the tulip is are away in central Asia. The tulip's natural habitat is made up of mountainous regions. They are found growing there at very high elevations in the mountains, which means that they are often covered with a thick layer of snow during the winter period.
Both beautiful and hardy, the tulip is a sure sign of spring.
